The PlayStation 4 Pro Gets A Redesign: It’s Quieter Than Before! [VIDEO]

The new model, codenamed CUH-7200, is going to be generating less noise than the two previous PlayStation 4 Pro models.

With consoles, it’s common to see them getting redesigned, and no, we don’t only think of them getting smaller, or, in our case, a PlayStation 4 Slim model – sometimes, the outside might be the same, but „under the hood,” there might be different bits and pieces, as seen with the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Currently, the latest PlayStation 4 Pro model, the CUH-7200, is exclusive to the Red Dead Redemption 2 bundles. It’s the third model already (and, seeing how the PlayStation 4 Pro launched in November 2016, it means it gets a new iteration each year), and from one aspect, it tops the two previous versions. DigitalFoundry‘s review details that while the power consumption might be worse than the 7100’s (170W instead of 167), and it might also be warmer (52C on the top, 66 at the bottom – the 7100 had 53/62, respectively), the amount of generated noise is less than before: it has 44 dB noise at the front, and 48 at the back. This result is 3/2 dB lower than the 7100’s, respectively!

The video review talks more about the PlayStation 4 Pro’s CUH-7200 model, but the noise is in focus: the stronger PS4 was usually louder than the regular/Slim model, but Sony might be stopping this (reasonable) generalisation…
