The first two games of the franchise (Command & Conquer, and Command & Conquer: Red Alert) are going to be remastered, Electronic Arts announced.
The 4K resolution remasters will be handled by Petroglyph Games. Who are they? Well, they are mostly formed by ex-Westwood Studios members… and that team was previously responsible for developing Command & Conquer games, which means the strategy IP is „coming home!” Joe Bostic, the co-creator of C&C, Steve Tall, a lead programmer, as well as a „fan favourite composer,” will all work on the remasters. (Our guess would be Frank Klepacki, who was the composer for most of the franchise, and he’s at Petroglyph, too…)
So it seems Electronic Arts has listened to the PC fanbase, who didn’t take it so kindly when EA announced a new Command & Conquer game after years of silence, only to make a new game, C&C: Rivals, on mobile, whose announcement trailer bombed on YouTube. (That didn’t stop EA from releasing the game on December 4!)
Bostic would gladly like feedback and opinion on the franchise’s subreddit, as the Command & Conquer remasters have no release date yet, as the development hasn’t started yet.
