Rocksteady Is Not Making A Superman Game!

Rocksteady‘s co-founder debunked the rumours.

In the newest Kotaku Splitscreen podcast, Jason Schreier, a writer at Kotaku, said the following: „Rocksteady is one of those companies where there have been so many rumours, it feels like every week there’s a new rumour. I have heard what they’re working on, I don’t want to spoil it just for the sake of spoiling it, but every single rumour I’ve seen seems to be bullshit. Like, Superman rumours, and Justice League rumours, and it just feels like these rumours are begetting other rumours. Like, it becomes accepted lore because if you see four different iterations of the same Superman rumour, then it’s like ‘Oh, of course, they are making Superman’. The thing I’ve heard is not Superman at all. I can’t 100% say they are not doing a Superman game, but I do not believe it. I think what we’re going to see from them is a game about a group of superheroes and it will be like a game as a service [GaaS] type thing. I don’t think it’s Batman related.”

This Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) model (see Battlefield V as an example) seems plausible: three years ago, Rocksteady was looking for two network programmers, and earlier this year, they were also on the lookout for a product manager with GaaS-experience. (And we could guess what IP could be Rocksteady using here – it’s likely DC-related like Superman or Batman are.)

Sefton Hill, Rocksteady‘s co-founder, chimed in on Twitter: „Looking forward to The Game Awards this year! We’re still hard at work in our development bunker so don’t expect an announcement from Rocksteady Games. When it’s ready to show, you’ll be the first to know. Spoiler: it’s not Superman!”

Try to figure out what they do then…
