Rockstar Games‘ new game could have easily surfaced on the new Nintendo platform, too.
Reggie Fils-Aime, the American president of Nintendo, told The Hollywood Reporter that he would „love” if Rockstar’s Western game would surface on the popular, portable platform. He explained in detail why there is no Switch port of Red Dead Redemption 2:
„Red Dead has been in development for years, time that predated any communication of Nintendo Switch. So, from the developer’s mentality, they need to move forward and finish the game they’ve been working on and then be in a position to look at other opportunities.”
Any game from a key third-party that’s coming out now, typically that development started well before any conversations about Nintendo Switch. What happens moving forward? We’ll see. But that’s how you wind up with a situation with Red Dead not being available on our platform.”
Who knows how bigger of an impact Red Dead Redemption 2 could have done with the Nintendo Switch – the game garnered 700 million dollars in three days after its release, and now, even Red Dead Online is active, getting even more money for the devs.
If Nintendo does plan a stronger Nintendo Switch (which we discussed before), they can get some money on the table until RDR2 gets ported with Fortnite, which also brings a ton of cash to the big N.
