The latest issue of Famitsu includes several Japanese developers talking about their ambitions for 2019. Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase from Square Enix have also done so.
For Nomura, 2019’s keyword is going to be „7”, and he didn’t write much in his message either: „many announcements are coming.” These comments both point towards Final Fantasy VII Remake – as Kingdom Hearts III is out at the end of January, Nomura can shift his focus to FF7R (as he has previously confirmed). Kitase’s keyword for the next year is „Big expectations!”, and his message says that Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s development is progressing smoothly. Also, while he did not mention this game, he also said that the team is earnestly at work to not disappoint the fans. The devs also talked about their most anticipated event or entertainment-related product – for Nomura, it would be Avengers: Endgame, and for Kitase, it would be Star Wars IX, respectively.
These comments point towards Square Enix going full-on into Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s development next year. Maybe they will give a gameplay trailer or a release date for the first episode.
