In FromSoftware‘s game, there was more than what we received in its retail version.
Lance McDonald is known for looking into the Souls games to find out what was abandoned during development, showing the cut contents of the games in recap videos. He didn’t miss out on Dark Souls III either. Quoting his video’s description: „Another look at some cut content from the Dark Souls 3 alpha. A whole bunch of unused enemies. Some newly discovered, and further revisited enemies that didn’t make it into the final game, or at least got changed dramatically before release. Oceiros smashing Ocelotte into the ground, Vordt covered in babies, hostile Pilgrims of Londor, and a bunch more.”
It’s often that during AAA games’ development, the developers abandon a few things as they progress towards completion. They also tend to leave some „clues” behind that fans can find. As we’re talking about large games, it’s not surprising that FromSoftware didn’t delete everything from Dark Souls III.
