An open-world, side-scrolling cyberpunk platformer runs into significant problems. (It was announced during Microsoft’s 2017 E3 press conference!)
Tim Soret, the creator of the game, as well as the head of Odd Tales, wrote the following on Twitter about his 2018 issues: „2018, rise & fall: We doubled the team, we got ourselves a proper lovely studio in the core of London, [the] game budget finally got a *massive* raise. We found & developed the code architecture this game needed, and we developed even more gorgeous hybrid 3D pixel art techniques. Then… we encountered massive business, legal & funding issues we can’t talk about. We had to cancel a new trailer of The Last Night at The Game Awards. and we’re currently raising funds, so get in touch: [email protected].”
The Last Night, which is planned to be launching on PC and Xbox One, would be a cinematic adventure with a similar art style as 1992’s Flashback. It would feature Charlie, „a second-class citizen living in a city brimming with augmentation and citizens living a gamified existence.”
Microsoft should consider acquiring the team – after all, Phil Spencer has expanded Microsoft Studios significantly during 2018…
