As usual, there are significant differences between the European and the North American charts.
We start off with the European ones (PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, and DLC) – Europe had FIFA 19 at the top, beating the December-debuting PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Its position makes sense due to starting out on PS4 a month ago. Let’s see the list – the brackets show the position from last month, except if it’s a new or a re-entry:
- FIFA 19 (3)
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (New)
- Battlefield V (4)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (2)
- Grand Theft Auto V (10)
- God of War (8)
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (1)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man (6)
- The Forest (5)
- The Sims 4 (Re-entry)
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (11)
- Rocket League (14)
- Minecraft (RE)
- Spyro Reignited Trilogy (9)
- The Crew 2 (16)
- Battlefield 4 (RE)
- Gang Beasts (RE)
- Battlefield 1 (RE)
- EA Sports UFC 2 (RE)
- Gran Turismo Sport (RE)
The new Call of Duty was finally surpassed by the Battlefield V. Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped significantly, while Grand Theft Auto came forward. Let’s look at the PlayStation VR’s top 10:
- Beat Saber (1)
- Astro Bot Rescue Mission (2)
- Job Simulator (10)
- Creed: Rise to Glory (RE)
- Superhot VR (5)
- Arizona Sunshine (RE)
- Moss (RE)
- DOOM VFR (RE)
- Batman: Arkham VR (8)
- Everest VR (RE)
The first two places did not change (they are successful, recent titles on the PlayStation VR). The DLC charts are dominated by Fortnite. Have a look:
- Fortnite Battle Royale – The Summit Striker Pack (1)
- Fortnite – Frozen Legends Pack (New)
- Fortnite – Standard Founder’s Pack (3)
- Fortnite Battle Royale – Deep Freeze Bundle (2)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps (5)
- Rocket League – McLaren 570S Car Pack (New)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Black Ops Pass (8)
- Destiny 2: Forsaken Annual Pass (10)
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege – Year 4 Pass (New)
Now, we move on to the North American charts. There will be differences (PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, and free-to-play), as the US PlayStation Blog does not publish DLC charts (instead, they have PlayStation 4 themes, PS Classics, and PlayStation Vita lists). Starting with the PS4 list:
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefield V
- FIFA 19
- Mortal Kombat XL
- Marvel’s Spider-Man
- NBA 2K19
- Madden NFL 19
FIFA 19 is not at the top, and its place is taken by PUBG via debuting. CoD beat Battlefield V, and GTA V finished ahead of RDR2 here as well. The sports game are here as usual, too. Now let’s see the PlayStation VR games:
- Beat Saber
- Job Simulator
- PlayStation VR Worlds
- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
- Farpoint
- Arizona Sunshine
- Borderlands 2 VR
- Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality
- Superhot VR
- Creed: Rise to Glory
It’s funny how Borderlands 2 VR (which was expensive when it launched…) is on the charts while it’s not the case in Europe. Beat Saber pulled the first place in here, too. Let’s end with the free-to-play charts:
- Fortnite Battle Royale
- Warface
- H1Z1: Battle Royale
- Warframe
- Brawlhalla
- Paladins
- DC Universe Online Free-to-Play
- 3on3 FreeStyle
- Smite
- Crossout
There will be several AAA games that launch in January, so we hope to see the charts get shaken up significantly, and maybe not see FIFA in the top three in Europe. (Is our continent THIS MUCH into football?)
