Electronic Arts has set the bar high for BioWare‘s next game…
BioWare announced on its blog that the players of the VIP demo and the open demo have spent a total of over 40 million hours in the game. „Operationally, things were super smooth – our war rooms were tranquil this weekend, which is exactly how we like them,” Chad Robertson, BioWare‘s head of live services, wrote in the post. However, we have to ask if this result is going to be enough for the developers because the publisher (who had a weak previous fiscal quarter year!) expects a lot of sales from the game.
By March 31 (the end of the current fiscal year and its fourth quarter, too), Anthem should sell between 5 to 6 million copies total on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It means the game has less than 1.5 months to reach the target, and we’re not sure if the game can hit this target. Battlefield V, Electronic Arts‘ previous major game, sold 7.3 million units in the previous quarter year (and it came out on November 20, close to the end of it), but it underperformed…
Anthem is out on February 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
