The developers of the Souls games (whose next game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which looks to be even harder, is out in two weeks…) are interested about genres that you wouldn’t expect…
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president of FromSoftware, chatted with The Telegraph, and he said the following: „There’s always the possibility [that we could make battle royale games]. These games are definitely fun. If we did it, it might be a bit different. But we’re definitely interested and there’s definitely that possibility in the future. We’d love to take a crack at them someday.”
Miyazaki says there’s still a market for single-player games (Spider-Man proved it recently), even though the „current climate” makes the battle royale and live service games popular: „Regardless of what From Software is doing, we need people making battle royale games and live services, and we need people making single-player focused experiences. We feel that this diversity is what will keep everyone going,” Miyazaki added.
So we might see a battle royale/live services game from the Japanese team in the future…!?
