SEGA ended up giving the green light for Judge Eyes, which means it will still get the English version in the West as Judgment.
Pierre Taki’s scandal has flipped Judge Eyes upside down – as the Japanese media star’s character, Kyohei Hamura isn’t a minor person in the story, SEGA has temporarily suspended the game’s sales in Japan after Taki got arrested for using cocaine. Then, it seemed the publisher is not going to bring over the PlayStation 4-exclusive title, which was developed by the Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) Studio.
We’re safe, though! SEGA has posted the following on Twitter: „Due to unforeseen circumstances, the character model and Japanese voice for the character of Kyohei Hamura will be adjusted for the Western release of Judgment, launching on June 25, 2019. Screenshots and trailers featuring Hamura have been temporarily removed from all of SEGA’s official channels. Updated versions of these materials will be made available at a later date.”
So don’t worry, Judgment is coming, and it’s not even getting delayed it seems – the PlayStation 4-exclusive game is going to launch on June 25 in the West. It was a good decision by SEGA to follow Square Enix’ example (they will modify/replace the affected character – Olaf got this treatment in Kingdom Hearts III).
