Overwatch is more and more likely to get a sequel, which was expected to happen, seeing how successful Blizzard’s team-based FPS is.
Previously, as a rumour, Overwatch getting a sequel was already a thing – the same goes for Diablo IV, which got confirmed once more, we’ll discuss that separately… Blizzard, whose name isn’t sounding that good at the moment, is going to possibly make an Overwatch sequel because the Starcraft FPS (not Ghost…) got cancelled. (We wrote about it back in the day.) ESPN got a hold of a document that reveals more of Overwatch 2.
According to the document, the game will have PvE things (and not just as temporary events…), new game modes, a new hero (just one? name is Echo), as well as a few new maps. These make sense. However, the in-game items, as well as the Heroes’ abilities can be used in the PvE mode as well. One of its missions will be set in Rio de Janeiro with four players, according to ESPN (who, mind you, is owned by Disney, because they have to have a sports channel, too). There will be a new game mode called Push as well, which should be playable at BlizzCon, along with the PvE story mode. The event is likely going to get some issues regarding the Hong Kong protests. The image below is also from ESPN: you can see the possible new logo of the game, featuring the number two as well.
Blizzard will likely not talk about Overwatch 2 until BlizzCon happens this weekend, but if such a big media outlet managed to reveal details about the game, then it cannot be a hoax. However, will Overwatch 2 be a cross-gen title? Is the Diablo II remaster rumour true as well?
