Sam Lake, whose looks have been used in Remedy Entertainment’s iconic TPS, Max Payne, has already started teasing on social media that he is up to something once again.
After Control, we see the Finnish writer (who is anything but talentless) announcing that he has already started work on his next project. Let’s see what he published on Twitter:
„Shh! I am in my brand new top-secret writing lair. I am writing a new story. You have been warned,” Lake’s tweet reads. And we can guess what he could be doing, but he previously expressed interest in returning to the world of Alan Wake. That couldn’t be an issue, as this Summer, we wrote about how Remedy Entertainment managed to get back the publishing rights of the Alan Wake IP from Microsoft, meaning the intellectual property is entirely in the team’s possession – legally, nothing stands in the way of making a sequel to the writer’s story.
Lake could also be doing something unrelated to games, as last year, we discussed how Alan Wake is going to get a TV series. Sam Lake is the executive producer of this project: he wants to be as hands-on to the adaptation as possible – it’s his creation after all, and we can’t blame him for supervising the whole thing.
We have no other idea what he could be doing – Alan Wake 2 would be applauded by the fans (and let’s face it, Alan Wake is probably having a bigger fan base than Control…), and if it happened, it’d probably be a next-gen thing, meaning it would be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Project Scarlett, and PC, unless a rumour that we mentioned a few months ago, namely Remedy Entertainment getting acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment, happens. (Both Sony and Microsoft expressed their wish to expand their respective studio portfolio.)
Let’s hope Lake’s new creation will be as memorable even after a decade like how Alan Wake is.
