We have discussed several times about have after Resident Evil 2, Capcom will give the same treatment to Resident Evil 3 as well, and now it seems more than possible to happen.
Spawn Wave, a YouTube channel, as well as VGC both talk about how Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which first came out on PS1 in Japan and North America in ’99, followed by a European release in 2000, then a PC, Dreamcast, and GameCube version, featuring Jill Valentine and the Tyrant called Nemesis, is going to get the remake treatment in 2020. (Which brings up the question whether this game will be on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, or will it also be on the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Project Scarlett as well?)
Spawn Wave might be familiar if you like FromSoftware games: they were the first to talk about Elden Ring before it got officially announced. This project is led by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of the studio, and George R. R. Martin, the writer of A Song of Ice and Fire. Thus, it’s a good idea to believe them, plus VGC talking about the remake means it’s probably not something hoax.
With it, the previous rumour of Capcom not directly developing the remake seems plausible, and with that, Resident Evil 8 being a next-gen title, also looks more and more likely to happen. And because of that, we might hear more rumours about the next mainline Resident Evil game shortly.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis had a plot that partially played before, then after the events of Resident Evil 2. (In the meantime, Jill got a virus infection, and Carlos, an Umbrella mercenary, had to visit a nearby hospital to make the cure and save her. The hospital blew up in the process.)
