The third Resident Evil game’s remake, which is mostly complete by now, will have a few changes here and there.
„I’ve picked up the most recent issue of Famitsu Weekly (issue #1620) that has an exclusive interview with producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata. The game’s codename during development was „Escape.” [It makes sense: Resident Evil 3’s name in Japan was Biohazard 3 LAST ESCAPE – the ed.] The link between Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resistance is the escaping theme, but there is no relation between the two other than that. RE3 was developed due to high demand, much like Resident Evil 2 Remake. The latter’s reception also added to it.
Similarly to Resident Evil 2 Remake, the game will follow the original, but there will be alterations and things will be rearranged so that those familiar with the original could also enjoy it. The game is 90% ready; Kawata promises there will be no delays. The master copy [the one they use to manufacture the physical copies – the ed.] is fairly ready. The scene from the trailer with Jill frantically running in the apartment building will be in the game, but the FPS view was just a stylistic choice for the trailer. The game will be TPS („behind view”) just like Resident Evil 2 Remake was.
As the game will be a lot more action-packed than Resident Evil 2 Remake, the designers wanted to give Jill an outfit that wouldn’t look uncomfortable to wear during intensive moments. There will be all sorts of different(-looking) zombies. It’s not just Carlos’ look that was changed, also his demeanour; although he appears a lot more mature, his character wasn’t altered considerably. There is a lot that can’t be revealed about Brad yet, but compared to Carlos, he and his role were changed a lot more. „Brad turned out quite neatly,” Kawata added.
About Resistance: Annette will have different cards than Daniel, like one that spawns 3 cerberi. There will also be a good few maps. About the collector’s edition: the notes on the map can be thought of as actual “hints” for the game,” several tweets read, revealing the new details seen in the Famitsu magazine.
Resident Evil 3 Remake, as well as Resident Evil Resistance, will launch on April 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
