FromSoftware‘s (Souls series, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice…) new game, Elden Ring, which had involvement by George R. R. Martin (A Song Of Ice And Fire – Game of Thrones…), isn’t going to wait until the end of the year.
The devs’ website has a New Year’s Card, which is a common trend in Japan. Via it, if you register, you can get a phone wallpaper for one of three of their games, namely Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Metal Wolf Chaos XD, or Elden Ring. So far, so good, but Elden Ring is named to have a June release date. Out of nowhere, they just unleash the release window like that!? (Someone will probably have a tough day at work in FromSoftware, and the publisher, Bandai Namco, will also have a few stern words to say…)
As we wrote in October, „Most of the combat is built upon the foundation of Souls series. The powers you get from the bosses are integrated to combos like the prosthetic in Sekiro but for all weapons. Some of those can also be used in the open world to open new paths much like in Zelda.
There will be a new bar, named «FP». It is part of the new burn mechanic. Using these powers burns your arms until they become ashes. Your arms can also be cut by enemies if burned to a certain degree. You can use mechanical arms as a weaker replacement. Limbs are dropped by enemies but only some can be used as a replacement for your arm. Most of the others are rotten or already burned. They can also be offered to „covenants.” Resting at a specific „altar” fully recovers your arms. Stealth kills allow recovering a bit from the burns.” (And this quote is just a small portion of the leaks from the Autumn!) We can partially debunk what we wrote then, as back then, we wrote that the game could be out in April. Looks like that’s not going to happen.
Elden Ring is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
