Capcom‘s game, Resident Evil 8 – even though it isn’t even officially announced yet – keeps leaking: we heard new details!
Last week, we already discussed the rumours about the new Resident Evil game with a number eight in its title. (And the same source, AestheticGamer, also revealed what Konami might be doing with Silent Hill – we also wrote about that.) Even though we should be „years” away from the game’s launch, the rumours seem to be exact, but as always, take them with a grain of salt.
Biohazard Declassified got an email, whose sender’s address seems to be similar to a person who correctly leaked information about previous Resident Evil games. On Twitter, Nibellion, a reliable insider, has also confirmed the following details. Resident Evil 8 could be a fairly direct sequel to Resident Evil 7. Ethan Winters (the protagonist of RE7) and Chris Redfield (a veteran in the series, debuting in the first game) could both return. The location will also change, and the plot is supposed to start in a European-style village, and after getting through snowy and mountain-filled regions, we should be in a castle.
The regular zombies could also make a return (in Resident Evil 7, there were those mouldy enemies…), but there will also be wolf-like creatures and a female shadowy entity that could keep coming back to haunt us. AestheticGamer has confirmed all this, but he says it was more likely the synopsis of the original Resident Evil 8 concept and not the reboot. Still, Capcom could have lifted a few things over.
Resident Evil 8 is in development, and if we do have to wait a while, it is likely going to be a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X title. Due to the first-person view, we also suspect that it was the original concept, as Resident Evil 7 did use that angle, while Resident Evil 2 Remake used a third-person camera view (and Resident Evil 3 Remake will also use that).
