The Japanese developer is playing with us, but this situation has his charm added to the mix.
So in Japan, the NGPX (New Game+ Expo) broadcast featured many titles in development by Japanese developers. Grasshopper Manufacture was also part of the stream, and the long-awaited No More Heroes III received gameplay footage, but not in the way you would expect: in the nearly two-minute video, we see Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51, too. He chroma keyed the background out, replacing it with the gameplay footage of his next game. Amazing.
Here’s the transcript of the video we wrote ourselves: „This is Suda51 from Grasshopper Manufacture. NGPX is finally about to start. As a gamer myself, I’m looking forward to the games that will be showcased. It’ll be exciting to see what the numerous Japanese developers have to show. Many gamers are staying home right now, and I imagine they’re all enjoying playing games. I know I am!
I spend my time at home working, making games, and spending time with my family, but in my spare time, I play games. I’ve accumulated a backlog of games I haven’t had a chance to play yet. I’ve got a stack right here. [shows Nintendo Switch game boxes] I intend on beating every one of these. That’s right, I haven’t even beaten Super Mario Odyssey yet. [shows case] I am going to though. I’ve also downloaded a bunch of indie games. This situation we’re in has allowed me to immerse myself in gaming.
I’d like to think of it as an opportune time where gamers can enjoy themselves to the fullest. Even though I know there are many difficulties, I believe video games truly show the power of entertainment media. I sincerely believe that this power invigorates us and instils us with hope for tomorrow. I do not doubt that the games showcased in this event will be brimming with that very power that will inspire us for the future.
I can’t wait to see what kind of games will be shown. Presenters, are you ready? The time is now.”
And we can’t be angry at him. He showed the game in style, and we might see more shortly, and without his „presence.” No More Heroes III launches this year on Nintendo Switch.
