Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War: Leaks, Chinese Censorship [VIDEO]

There is no year without a Call of Duty and leaks about it.

CodTracker published a lot of details about this year’s Activision Blizzard game. Let’s see the official description of the game: „The iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – the direct sequel to the original and fan-favourite Call of Duty: Black Ops. Black Ops Cold War will drop fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more.

As elite operatives, you will follow the trail of a shadowy figure named Perseus who is on a mission to destabilize the global balance of power and change the course of history. Descend into the dark centre of this global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason and Hudson and a new cast of operatives attempting to stop a plot decades in the making. Beyond the Campaign, players will bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation of Multiplayer and Zombies experiences,” the leak says.

It also mentions the Ultimate Edition, which will feature „Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War game (Note: console versions include current-gen version and next-gen version when it launches), Land, Sea and Air Pack (3 Operator Skins, 3 Vehicle Skins, 3 Weapon Blueprints), Battle Pass Bundle (1 Season Battle Pass + 20 Tier Skips), Confrontation Weapons Pack.” Only this version, as well as the Cross-Gen Bundle, will provide free next-gen upgrades on console. Those who preorder will receive: „Early access to the Open Beta; Iconic Operator Frank Woods and an assault rifle Weapon Blueprint for immediate use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone; 10 Tier Skips for immediate use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone.”

Kotaku, quoting South China Morning Post, as well as Hong Kong’s Nr 1 opposition newspaper, Apple Daily, claims that Activision Blizzard has replaced the game’s teaser trailer, as the first version had a second of footage that showcased the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, which were demolished by the Chinese Communist Party (blocking all discussion of it in the process since), which is why the publisher released a version that cut A MINUTE of footage (you can see the scene in question at 1:05, where the protesters stand on an armoured vehicle). No matter, we embedded the original (the edited one is the second vid). And yet, the game’s tagline dares to be Know Your History? Pathetic. Why did it happen? Oh, it’s probably because Tencent, a tech company with direct links into the state party apparatus, has 5% of the shares in Activision Blizzard (and they are also present in Ubisoft…).

According to the leak, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch on November 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (as a Battle.net exclusive, possibly requiring a constant Internet connection – the port is handled by Beenox). The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X will get it as a launch title. Multiplayer reveal on September 9.
