The Sims 4 calls for a Galaxy’s Edge-inspired adventure into the galaxy far-far away… The Sims 4: Star Wars Journey to Batuu – did we want this?
In addition to the trailer for Star Wars story: Squadrons and the reappearance of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with its new launch window, there was another surprise of the series of Lucasfilm on Opening Night Live from Gamescom 2020. This time it’s up to The Sims 4 players to embark on an adventure to a galaxy far away, as a collaboration with Star Wars was announced for its next Game Pack.
Players can join three factions and go on missions to obtain unique items.
Star Wars: Journey to Batuu is a new downloadable content for the Sims 4 that will arrive on PC and consoles on September 8. In this new adventure for the EA and Maxis life simulator, players will leave the comfort of their homes to visit the limits of the Outer Rim Territories on the planet Batuu from Star Wars.
If the planet Batuu sounds familiar to you, it is because it is the place that Lucasfilm presented for Galaxy’s Edge, the theme park of the franchise that was built at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. The new Game Pack for The Sims 4 will allow players to visit a recreation of the Black Spire Outpost where they can see the Millenium Falcon, listen to music in Oga’s Cantina to the rhythm of DJ R-3X and participate in themed missions to obtain Star Wars items with which you can then decorate your home.
Players will be able to decide between working with Rey and Vi Moradi for the resistance, joining the First Order by swearing allegiance to Kylo Ren, or looking to rack up credits with Hondo Ohnaka and his band of pirates. By completing these missions, players will be able to increase their reputation, unlock new artifacts, access unique clothing, customize their own droids, and even create a lightsaber.
“We are super Star Wars fans and that gave us the foundation to create an authentic and immersive story for fans who love the wide possibilities for self-expression and deep storytelling throughout The Sims,” said Lynsay Pearson, Executive Producer and General Manager from The Sims regarding this release. For his part, Scott Trowbridge, Creative Portfolio Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering praised Maxis’ talent for “bringing the rich narrative of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to reality in a totally new and different way with this experience.”
Anyone interested in purchasing this content can purchase it at a price of 19.99 euros / 19.99 dollars. We remind you that it is not the only initiative in development inspired by Galaxy’s Edge, as ILMxLAB prepares a virtual reality game that is also inspired by the planet Batuu.
