“In the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart PS5 exclusive game, we can do things at speeds we’ve never been able to do before!” Says Insomniac.
One of the great assets of PlayStation 5 facing its launch is none other than Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. An Insomniac Games adventure designed for the new generation of PlayStation, which seeks to take advantage of its fast memory architecture to offer entire worlds that load instantly, without taking you out of the gameplay. How fast can they load them? Well, in less than a second, they say.
In an interview for The Washington Post, director Mike Daly has covered a variety of topics about the new Ratchet and Clank game. And, of course, one of the most striking points of the proposal is none other than those dimensional portals through which the protagonists will travel, offering entire worlds that are loaded at the moment. “One of the most amazing things about it is that it is all real-time gameplay where you can control your character.”
“All those worlds that you travel through during the sequences are real worlds, fully implemented, in which one could just stop and play, under other circumstances,” says the director of the game. To this, the creative director Marcus Smith added that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart performs the loading of their worlds “in less than a second”, in addition to commenting that these new speeds will mean “a paradigm shift” in video game design.
“Something is changing with this. We are not just talking about eliminating the loading screens, which is natural, but this [the SSD] allows us to do things at speeds that we have never before been able to do them,” says its creative director. We remind you that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart showed its virtues recently with new gameplay during Gamescom 2020, where it was also confirmed that the game will debut near the PS5 premiere. A new generation adventure that, according to Insomniac, would not be possible to create without the new hardware.
