Elden Ring: No Announcement Until June?

The newest Yeti of the gaming industry seems to keep its distance from the community altogether.

Elden Ring has been a meme at this point – FromSoftware‘s next title (after Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Bloodborne, and the Souls series) was announced in June 2019, but since then, we have heard rumours of it being showcased in 2020, only for a pandemic to happen, wiping the plans off the road altogether. 2021 continues to have these rumours, but we have also seen a leaked video, which was allegedly meant to be used internally by Bandai Namco, the game’s publisher.

„I’m less certain [about an Elden Ring reveal in March], and I’m less certain because I think that the leak might have messed things up a little bit. […] The reason I think the leak might have messed things up, is I just think Bandai Namco are cracking down, figuring out how to adjust the messaging, making sure they fully understand how the leak happened…and then [they’ll] continue down the path toward officially announcing the game,” VentureBeat’s mostly reliable Jeff Grubb said during the first episode of his podcast, The Game Mess Show.

But when will it be showcased? Here’s what Grubb had to say: „There’s going to be opportunities for them to [reveal Elden Ring]. If they don’t want to do it on their own — and they could do it on their own — but if they don’t want to do it on their own, June is not that far away. E3 is coming. If I were going to put it on the list, I would say, I would expect it by E3 and no later.” So Bandai Namco is capable of doing a showcase, similar to Nintendo Direct (Nintendo) and State of Play (Sony), but they might go with E3, which is reportedly going digital.

Elden Ring was announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but since then, the new consoles launched, which could have changed FromSoftware’s plans.
