The NPD Group has released its February analysis, and according to it, one system generated more revenue, while another one sold more units…
NPD‘s February analysis is here, and the numbers are all up. The players in the US spent 4.6 billion dollars on games, additional content, and hardware, which is a staggering 35% increase year-on-year. Hardware sales have increased 121% from February 2020, thanks to the arrival of the next-gen consoles. The PlayStation 5 is the fastest-selling console in terms of dollars generated in US history, but it was still beaten by the Nintendo Switch, which had the best February of any console since the Wii in 2009.
Here’s February’s top 20:
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Persona 5 Strikers
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Madden NFL 21
- Little Nightmares II
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- FIFA 21
- NBA 2K21
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Just Dance 2021
- Minecraft (PlayStation 4 Edition)
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Immortals Fenyx Rising
The expanded version of Super Mario 3D World has made the jump from the Nintendo Wii U to the Switch, and it even surpassed the newest Call of Duty. (Out of the first ten positions, three of them are Switch-exclusives, but PlayStation is also present with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in the top five.) However, we doubt it could stay as such for the whole year. Here’s 2021’s top ten so far:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
- Madden NFL 21
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Persona 5 Strikers
- Ring Fit Adventure
…Nintendo still has four exclusives in the top ten, while Spidey is on the third step of the roster. What can March bring?
