We learned about several games of the French company what their release windows are.
We’re not going to detail their financial results (because everything is fine and dandy, results are positive, but we will mention that they will put more focus on free-to-play multiplayer games…), but here’s a quote we have to paste: „The year will notably see the release of Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six: Quarantine, Riders Republic, The Division Heartland and Roller Champions. Skull and Bones will now be released in 2022-23.” By year, they meant a fiscal year, which starts in April. So for Skull and Bones, its earliest possible release date could be in April 2022!
Skull and Bones was announced at E3 2017 with a late 2018 release window, but then it was pushed to 2019/2020 to offer „’an even more engaging experience.” Then, in September 2020, Elisabeth Pellen, the creative director, has announced another delay, mentioning the overhauled game will be shown in 2021: „Many of you have been wondering why we’ve had to postpone our launch. The answer is that we simply needed more time. We dreamt of something bigger for Skull and Bones, and these ambitions naturally came with bigger challenges.
These difficulties resulted in necessary delays for our game. Critical questions needed to be addressed over the past several months such as: how do we modernize the classic pirate fantasy? How do we ensure a more immersive and visceral experience? How do we create cool and memorable moments in-game? For most of these questions to be answered, it was clear that we needed more development time,” Pellen wrote.
Daniel Ahmad, the senior analyst of Niko Partners, added on Twitter that Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six: Quarantine are still planned to arrive by the end of September 2021, and regarding Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, he added that it’s going to be available by March 2022 (in the current fiscal year).
So Skull and Bones could be in some deep development hell.
