Prove that you are a human, and no, you do not have to click on random items…
Captchas are the obligatory evil nowadays. After just five or six Google searches within like ten to fifteen minutes, you get to face one, and nothing is worse than getting a version where you have to click all squares of the image where a certain item (such as a traffic light) can be seen, only to fail, as one of the items are present in a square you didn’t click, even if it’s just two or three pixels. It’s annoying, and let’s face it: it’s not a thing that everyone enjoys.
Here’s a fun solution that makes it exciting. No, it’s not about typing some text (if that was the case, we wouldn’t even write this bunch of characters altogether). Miquel Camps Orteza, a Spanish web developer, has made an exciting and entertaining solution to the problem, and we wonder why it hasn’t become a common thing yet.
Here’s DOOM CAPTCHA that you can find on Github. The title is intentional: it is related to id Software’s eternal classic, as you have to shoot four imps in a relatively short period, so you have to aim fast to pass the challenge that will reward you with a sound effect used in Undertale and a white checkmark on a green background. There’s a bit of quirk, though: why the Wolfenstein 3D background?
Camps Orteza wrote that he „had the idea this Friday, developed the first version on Saturday morning, published that night and went live here on Sunday.” He added, „Don’t take this too seriously, this is a little project for fun, if do you know how to code it’s pretty easy to break the security of this.”
As a bonus, try typing the IDDQD code on desktop in the captcha.
