Session developers Crea-ture Studios now has an owner, and the new bosses have big plans.
Nacon, formerly known as Bigben Interactive, announced that they bought Crea-ture Studios. „This acquisition is part of our ongoing external growth strategy and allows us to further expand our portfolio in the sports game segment. We are delighted to welcome the talents of Crea-ture Studios, whose expertise and passion will strengthen our video game business,” said Nacon CEO Alain Falc in a press release.
„We are delighted to join the Nacon group, which has more than 30 years of experience in the sector. This is a great opportunity to accelerate our development and offer ever more exciting games,” Crea-ture Studios founding directors Marc-Andre House and Vincent da Silva added.
Nacon, which is a publisher and a peripherals manufacturer, has acquired eleven studios over the past three years. So they are in a shopping spree, albeit not as big as we have seen from Embracer Group in recent years. Nacon hopes to become a leader in „AA” video games by 2023. An example of such a game could be Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. It’s not a full-price (60/70 USD/EUR, depending on your region) title, but its quality is far from most indie games.
Session, Crea-ture’s game in development, is currently available in Early Access for PC via Steam and in Game Preview for Xbox One via the Microsoft Store. When the skateboarding game is ready to hit the store shelves, it will be available on more platforms (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam).
We have to mention that we rarely see Nacon acquire another studio. In recent times, they are somewhat held back on this front, unlike several other companies, such as Microsoft or even Sony Interactive Entertainment.
