343 Industries launched the second technical multiplayer preview for Halo Infinite last weekend, and we didn’t think if there would be a comparison video; instead, we asked when it would arrive.
In July, we already had a comparison video during the first testing phase featuring the Xbox quartet. Except for the base Xbox One, all consoles provided solid performance. However, a new video has arrived, and if we had to recap it in one sentence, we’d say that the performance has significantly improved since the summer, with one feature disabled on one platform for some reason.
According to ElAnalistaDeBits, “This comparison has been made with a version in development. The data provided could vary in future versions/updates. [The Xbox] Series S does not have a 120 FPS performance mode in this Tech Preview. It is likely to be included again in future versions. [The] Xbox One X has added a performance mode. It is now possible to play at 1440p/60FPS with dynamic temporal reconstruction. The framerate has improved considerably compared to previous versions on all platforms.
The quality mode of [the Xbox] Series X and [Xbox] One X has better shadows, anisotropic filtering and greater geometry in the drawing distance. Special mention to some textures: they have spectacular quality on all platforms, although higher resolution on Xbox Series X and Xbox One X. Some contact shades are only available on [Xbox] Series X. The reflections have been created with SSR and cubemaps; [the] Xbox One does not have SSR reflections. We can still see some graphical bugs in the interface. Loading times are almost six times faster on Series S/X,” the analysis claims. Last but not least, the resolution/frame rate per console: Xbox Series X: 2160p/60 FPS or 1440p/120 FPS; Xbox Series S: 1080p/60 FPS; Xbox One X: 2160p/30 FPS or 1440p/60 FPS; Xbox One: 1080p/30 FPS.
Halo Infinite launches on December 8 on Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, too; not just Microsoft Store). In a few days, the third multiplayer flight will begin.
