Blizzard Removes Sexist Dialogues from World of Warcraft Amid Harassment Lawsuit Crisis

In a recent patch, developers are removing what they deem “politically incorrect” macho, sexist jokes and flirtatious dialogue from World of Warcraft.

Activision Blizzard has been in the spotlight for months. The company is facing a lawsuit for harassment, abuse and discrimination, which has been ramped up by the state of California itself. The story didn’t stop there, and the case was eventually even reported to US government agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board.

In the midst of this serious crisis, the work with the various video games will always continue to be the focus of this delicate situation. Because of this, everything has been blown up more than necessary, and this time it was the turn of World of Warcraft to be the subject of controversy after a recent update that eliminated dialogue lines deemed offensive.

This patch, which was released a few days ago, details the various text macho jokes or flirtations that the developers deemed obsolete and deleted from the MMORPG. For their part, Blizzard confirm that they want their jokes to be inclusive and not offensive, although they believe that “silly jokes and bold innuendos are part of World of Warcraft, and probably always will be”.

In addition, the developers have also assured that they want players to continue to express themselves through their characters, so they have no intention of changing the appearance of characters or cosmetics. Of course, they want to make sure that they offer “a wide range of options” so that users can truly represent themselves, and will work on this in future content and feature development.
