MOVIE NEWS – David Gordon Green has explained that the third instalment of his Halloween trilogy will not follow the Halloween Kills path and will leave a bit of space in the story.
David Gordon Green assumed a titanic and perilous task by wanting to be in charge of a new series of films in the Halloween saga, which John Carpenter began back in 1978, hitting the table hard and laying down some foundations of the slasher genre. In addition to creating the character of Michael Myers, of course, he is right now one of the most well-known serial killers in the world of cinema.
The direct sequel to Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills, will premiere on October 22 (and will first go through the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival). Still, Gordon Green is already beginning to talk about Halloween Ends, the third instalment responsible for closing the story between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. At least in this new movie series, because we don’t think that’s the last time we’ll see the character.
In a ReelBlend podcast, the director has confirmed that Halloween Ends will have a small time skip and will not be set right after the events of Halloween Kills. That is to say; it will not be a delivery that is stuck to the established timeline but will take its space to tell other events, more focused on the protagonists of the entire saga: Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle.
History repeats itself
In this way, David Gordon Green repeats what was seen with Carpenter’s instalments since the first two went hand in hand as far as space and time are concerned. Still, the third, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, was a story parallel that he didn’t follow Myers’s story closely. Although in Halloween Ends, the theme will change a bit, and Nick Castle will continue to be one of the essential pieces of the script.
Halloween Kills, as we said, will see the light this month of October and will have that generation of Strode being pursued by a serial killer who can escape even the very flames of hell.
