Deathloop’s Director Becomes The New Leader Of Arkane Lyon

Dinga Bakaba, Deathloop’s director will take over as head of the studio after Romuald Capron left his post in October.

Deathloop is one of those titles that can sneak into the pool of games of the year. While there seem to be more rounded offerings, Arkane’s new PS5 and PC title has surprised critics and gamers alike, with a strong focus on the confrontation between two assassins in the middle of a time loop.

After its launch in mid-September, Arkane Lyon has undergone some structural changes that we now know how they are resolved. In October, Romuald Capron announced his departure from the studio, leaving his place as director vacant. Thanks to information from VGC, we now know who his replacement will be: Dinga Bakaba, co-director of Deathloop.

Dinga Bakaba will keep his position as co-creative director at the developer. So it seems that being involved in such a big title is working out well for the people behind it. But despite becoming the studio’s lead, Bakaba will retain his position as co-creative director at the developer, a role he shares with Deathloop co-director and art director Sebastien Mitton.

The new game published by Bethesda (which was acquired by Microsoft last year) is one of those curious cases in the industry: it is a temporary PlayStation exclusive on consoles despite Zenimax now being part of the Xbox house. At theGeek, we reviewed it before its release and, while we thought it was remarkable, we missed some more innovation in its mechanics. You can read more about it in our review of Deathloop.
