Kristen Stewart has spoken out about the ‘noise’ her Oscar chances are making
Since its festival run and its worldwide release, Spencer has been causing a stir among critics and audiences alike, thanks mainly to Kristen Stewart’s captivating performance.
Kristen Stewart plays the iconic Princess Diana of Wales in this small window into her life directed by Pablo Larraín, which tells the story of the Christmas days before Lady Diana decided to divorce Prince Charles.
Talk of the film inevitably turns to Stewart’s Oscar chances, which appear to be quite good for her performance. Now the actress has spoken out about the ‘noise’ that’s being generated on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast.
“I don’t give a shit. The Oscars are such a funny thing. There are so many incredible films and performances that are barely seen. It clearly says something about where we are in terms of cumulative presence, and what we’re watching and what we care about,” she says. “I really appreciate that something I’ve been involved in has generated so much conversation. We don’t make films not to connect with people,” she adds.
If there’s one thing that has been a constant since Spencer began screening at various festivals and critical screenings, it’s Kristen’s delicate performance.
The actress has come a long way since her days as Bella Swan in Twilight, and the buzz around Hollywood is that this could be the role that will cement her career in terms of accolades.
Even Princess Diana’s former bodyguard Ken Wharfe told People that Stewart’s performance is brilliant. “Of all the people who have played Diana in the last ten years, Kristen has come the closest. She’s managed to perfect her mannerisms and gestures,” he acknowledged. Spencer is now in theatres.
