Horizon Forbidden West: More Time To Spend With Key Characters

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games have started Horizon Forbidden West’s marketing’s final push.

WCCFTech quoted a few bits from Game Informer’s issue #342, which will have Guerrilla Games’ upcoming Horizon Forbidden West as its cover story. The magazine has an interview with the studio. In it, Ben McCaw explained how Horizon Zero Dawn’s sequel will have more lively towns: “We’ve upgraded our civilians and settlements since the last game with an improved crowd system, better animations, and much better audio, so everything should feel a little bit more authentic and lifelike.”

McCaw also explained how Aloy would have more time spent with several characters in the plot: “The big focus, though, that we wanted to change from the first game to the second, is that you just get to spend more time with key characters. That’s something we tried to do consistently throughout the game. Not just for characters that you meet along the main quest, but also certain side quest characters; they don’t just go away after one quest.”

Aloy’s perception has changed from the start of Horizon Zero Dawn. At the time, she was an outcast, and everyone underestimated her. However, her results made people call her Savior in Horizon Forbidden West. Still, it will come with great responsibility: “On one level, Aloy wants to live up to the example of Elizabeth Sobek, her mother figure, and do whatever it takes to stop the blight and save the world. Even if that means doing it single-handedly; but, she’ll also discover that it’s lonely being the Savior. And ultimately, it’s the connections with others that make the world worth saving in the first place,” McCaw added.

Horizon Forbidden West will launch in the middle of the February gaming overload on February 18 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Game Informer additionally published five new images.
