Blizzard’s highly anticipated game, the sequel to the highly successful Overwatch, has been quiet for months without any news.
Overwatch 2 was announced at the end of 2019, so it’s no surprise that the community is waiting for answers from Blizzard, and while there’s still nothing to reveal, the team responsible for the project has finally responded and given people an update on the current state of the game.
The team responsible is asking for more patience from the Overwatch community
AndyB, the company’s community manager, explained to players that the team is working very hard on the sequel to the famous shooter, but for now, we will have to wait a little longer as the developers have announced nothing at this time.
He further mentioned that he is aware of the long wait and lack of communication that fans have suffered and hopes that players will regain confidence in the project as soon as the team in charge can announce something.
In other words, the developers will speak out when the time is right, and that day could be tomorrow, a week from now or a few months from now. Considering the significant changes Activision Blizzard went through after the departure of director Jeff Kaplan and the acquisition by Microsoft, it’s clear that the development of Overwatch 2 didn’t go as the studio had hoped.
Blizzard announced in September 2021 that it hoped to release Overwatch 2 before the summer of 2022, as the company could not afford any further delays. Earlier this year, the company said it would soon reveal more details about its projects in development, which include not only Overwatch 2 but also the highly anticipated Diablo 4.
