Robert Pattinson Keen To Be In Planet Of The Apes Sequel

MOVIE NEWS – Robert Pattinson isn’t keen on sequels, but he’d love to star in a Planet of the Apes movie, perhaps with Matt Reeves.

Robert Pattinson wouldn’t be keen on many sequels, but he would be willing to take the lead role in the Planet of the Apes franchise. Pattinson is a big fan of the last two instalments of the film series, directed by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the new Batman. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor expressed his love for the films and said he is so impressed by them that he would love to work with Reeves, perhaps on the next Apes movie.

“I love those Apes movies so much. There’s only been two movies – well, three now – where I wanted to do a sequel: the Apes movies, Sicario and Dune. I saw both of the Apes movies in the cinema and I just thought what he could do with mo-cap was just so unbelievable.”

“If he could do that with a monkey’s face, then he can get a performance out of me as well.”

After a series of Planet of the Apes films in the 1960s and 1970s, followed by a remake in 2001, the franchise was rebooted with 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. After Rupert Wyatt directed that film, Matt Reeves stepped in to lead the 2014 sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and its 2017 sequel, War of the Planet of the Apes. Both films were widely acclaimed.

Just a few days ago, Steve Asbell, President of 20th Century Studios, provided an update on the Planet of the Apes franchise. Apparently, shooting on Planet of the Apes Part 4 is scheduled to begin this year, but the director will not be Matt Reeves, but Wes Bell. That doesn’t mean that Robert Pattinson won’t have a place in the film or even in another movie later on that would reunite Pattinson and Reeves.

The chances are that Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves will spend a lot of time together in the years to come. Batman proved to be an incredible success, with the second-highest opening weekend during the pandemic, only Spider-Man: No Way Home. This pretty much means that there will be a Batman 2, and maybe even a third film, which could lead to another standalone Batman trilogy.

Batman is already playing in cinemas everywhere.
