TECH NEWS – Embracer Group acquired Chinese publisher Perfect World Entertainment last December, therefore, the publisher decided to change the brand’s name.
Perfect World Entertainment will change its name to Gearbox Publishing after the acquisition in 2021 by Embracer Group. According to the announcement, only the name will change, and the publisher will continue with the same team and content, including Neverwinter, Star Trek Online and Have a Nice Death. Also staying with Gearbox are previous releases such as the Torchlight series and Remnant: From The Ashes.
According to the announcement:
“We’re appreciative of you enjoying our games and joining us on this journey to new horizons. The new partnership means bigger and better things, and we can’t wait to show you all the new experiences we’ve been working on as Gearbox Publishing.”
Perfect World Entertainment wasn’t the only Embracer Group acquisition, with the acquisition of Cryptic Studios alongside the publisher in December last year, and Lost Boys Interactive (co-developer of Tiny Tina) yesterday.
