Evil Dead: The Game is just days away from release, but the developer is already teasing fans with concept art for upcoming DLC.
The highly anticipated Evil Dead: The Game is one of the latest additions to the list of horror games for 2022. The film series on which the game is based is a true cult classic from the 80s, helmed by director Sam Raimi. Although the game is just days away from release, developers have already started sharing teasers of what horror fans can expect from Evil Dead in the coming months.
Evil Dead: The Game first made its debut at the 2020 Game Awards, where the focus was on multiplayer-based team play. However, following backlash over the lack of single-player content, the game was eventually postponed to build on the single-player offering. As the title nears release, developer Saber Interactive has shared more details about the story of Evil Dead: The Game. Following this, the developers have shared concept art for some of Evil Dead: The Game’s post-launch content.
While we don’t know much else about a possible release date or content updates, news of more DLC for the game should excite plenty of Evil Dead fans. In a tweet on the game’s official account, the concept images show the Kandar Castle from Army of Darkness and sketchy outlines of the map. According to the developers, the Army of Darkness DLC will be free for all Evil Dead: The Game players and is one of many DLCs in the pipeline.
But the game isn’t the only new Evil Dead content debuting this year, as director Sam Raimi returns to the film franchise with the sequel Evil Dead Rise – as we previewed in our preview. The film will be released on HBO Max in 2022, and Raimi claims Evil Dead Rise will be fantastic after seeing various film cuts. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Evil Dead: The Game will include Raimi’s latest film, it’s not unlikely that fans will see Evil Dead Rise content in a future DLC for the game.
Overall, 2022 has proven to be a good year for horror fans. This year’s slate of horror games includes Dying Light 2, the Dead Space remake, The Callisto Protocol, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Elden Ring and Ghostwire: Tokyo. On the movie side, fans are already spoiled with titles such as Scream, No Exit, X, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) and many more. Either way, the release of Evil Dead: The Game promises to be an exciting addition to the horror genre.
Evil Dead: The Game will be released on 13 May 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
