MOVIE NEWS – Leaked merch gives first look at Black Panther 2 villain: Namor.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theatres next week, but Marvel fans have another big hit this year: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and while fans are excited to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues Black Panther’s story, Namor’s much-rumoured debut is also eagerly awaited, especially after the casting of Tenoch Huerta. Back in May, fans got a very vague idea of what Huerta’s Namor might look like, and now, thanks to some new and much clearer promotional images shared by the @MCU_Facility Twitter account, which also shared a picture of Attuma earlier today, we get the best picture yet of the Sub-Mariner.
In the image you can check out for yourself below, Namor appears in green swimming trunks and a gold belt, very much in keeping with his iconic 1960s comic book look. However, the character also received additional details, including gold armour on his arms and a green collar piece. It is unclear from this image whether he will have his trademark ankle wings, although the prior art – which depicted a whole body – hinted at it.

What stands out the most in the images are the details, which are all very Aztec in nature, suggesting that MCU Namor’s Atlantis will be in Central America. This fits not only with the rumours of changes to the character in the film but also with the wrapping gifts for those involved in making Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Photos of these objects recently surfaced on social media and appeared to feature Tepeyollotl, the Aztec jaguar god.
Apart from this new image, there is still quite a lot to know about both Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Namor’s role remains a mystery. Fans have long awaited Namor’s arrival in the MCU, and some were disappointed when the character didn’t make a brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That film also featured the Illuminati, a secret group that included Namor in the comics. But even though Namor wasn’t part of the group in the movie, screenwriter Michael Waldron hinted that Marvel has bigger plans for the beloved character.
“[We talked] about him because he’s an original member of the Illuminati,” Waldron said. “But I think Marvel has other plans for him in the MCU. And so he wasn’t included in this particular movie.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theatres on November 11.
