Sony has released a new story synopsis for the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the game.
After years of waiting, God of War fans can finally mark the release date of God of War Ragnarok on their calendars. On 9th November, players on PS4 and PS5 will be able to immerse themselves in Kratos’ latest adventure, which we know will be the final instalment of the Norse mythology saga. How it will end is still unknown, but in the meantime, Sony has released a new synopsis on the PlayStation Store that explains the story of God of War Ragnarok.
“Fimbulwinter is already in full swing. Kratos and Atreus must travel to all nine realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a predicted battle that will mark the world’s end. Along the way, they explore stunning, mythical landscapes and face terrifying enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarök is getting closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the empires,” – reads the new PlayStation Store synopsis. Much of this information was already guessed based on what we saw in the God of War Ragnarok trailers, but regardless, it’s good to have an updated plot summary.
The synopsis points to some of the main threats Kratos and Atreus will face in God of War Ragnarok, namely the titular Ragnarok apocalypse looming on the horizon and the “Asgardian forces” that want to fight them. One of the Asgardian forces in question is Thor, the god of thunder, who has been introduced as the main antagonist of the new game. It will be interesting to see what other Asgardian characters show up in God of War Ragnarök and whether or not Odin himself will appear.
The nine realms of God of War Ragnarok will provide players with plenty of environmental variety and unique sights to see along the way. The nine realms in question are Alfheim, Asgard, Helheim, Jotunheim, Midgard, Muspelheim, Niflheim, Svartalfheim, and Vahaeim. There will likely be more trailers showing more of the Nine Realms before the release of God of War Ragnarok, but fans may have to wait until the release to see them all.
Currently, the release date of God of War Ragnarok is set for 9th November. However, the game could be pushed to a later date at any time, so fans should keep that in mind. The good news is that Sony seems confident that God of War Ragnarok will keep its release date, with pre-orders open and the special God of War Ragnarok Jotnar Edition selling out quickly, so fans can safely circle 9th November in their calendars.
God of War Ragnarok will be released on 9th November for PS4 and PS5.
