Valve’s new announcement brings good news for those who pre-ordered the Steam Deck handheld this year but haven’t received it yet.
For all those waiting for an update on Steam Deck reservations, Valve has some good news. Earlier today, Valve announced an update on Steam Deck production and stated that anyone with a Steam Deck reservation could expect to receive theirs this year.
Valve announced in a Twitter post where they shared news about Steam Deck coming out this year and a little more information about it. According to the post, anyone with a Steam Deck reservation can expect to receive theirs by the end of this year. The supply chain issues have cleared up, and as a result, many people’s orders have been pushed forward to a Q3 2022 release, with the remaining bookings in the Q4 2022 release window.
The post also cleared up some confusion about the release windows in the comments, adding that Q3 means July to September, while Q4 covers October to December. The general reception of the post has been generally positive so far, with many in the comments section expressing their surprise at the update. Some people were still sceptical about the news, but many were excited to get their hands on the Steam Deck later this year.
Great news: Everyone who currently has a reservation can get their Steam Deck by the end of this year! We’ve cleared up supply chain issues, a bunch of folks got moved up to Q3, and all other reservations are now in Q4.

The post also included a link to Steam’s main website, where Valve continued to provide more details about the production of Steam Decks and what players can expect. In the post, Valve claims that it will be able to meet demand sooner than expected for those in the Steam Deck reservation queue. Now that many of the supply chain issues have been gradually cleared up, this allows Valve to continue producing Steam Decks. Valve will now be able to continue creating Steam Decks “faster than ever before”.
The post also expanded on what was written in the original Twitter post about the Q3 and Q4 release windows for Steam Deck reservations. He claimed that everyone in the Steam Deck reservation queue would receive their order email later this year. Also, many customers in the “Q4 or later” release window have moved to the Q3 release window, while everyone else is now in the Q4 release window.
At the time of writing, new Steam Deck bookings will be organized into the Q4 release window. However, according to the post, if the reservation lines are complete, they will “roll over to the next quarter.” Other than that, the rest of the base has Valve thanking its loyal supporters. He thanks everyone for the positive feedback and hopes new Steam Deck owners will enjoy their gaming systems when they arrive.
