MOVIE NEWS – The Stranger Things actress says playing the role of Enola Holmes is the most crucial moment of her career so far.
Millie Bobby Brown is set to reprise her role as Sherlock Holmes’ sharp-witted and soulful sister in Enola Holmes 2, which is scheduled to arrive later this year. The actress first took on the role in 2020 in the first part of the Victorian drama, in which Enola tried to track down her mother while also solving the mysteries of a young lord.
The sequel is on its way, arriving on Netflix on 4 November 2022. This time, Enola becomes a hired detective on her first official case to find a missing girl. The adventure weaves a dangerous conspiracy full of mystery that will require the help of friends and Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) himself.
Brown served as producer for the first time in his career on Enola Holmes. She is doing the same for the sequel, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress talks about the struggles of being a producer. But Brown says it’s “rewarding” to be a producer and lead actress on a film, calling it “the most important moment of my career”.
“[Enola Holmes] is probably the most important moment of my career so far because it’s something I developed. It’s very rewarding. Obviously, it can be exhausting, and when you look back on it, you say, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I didn’t sleep. But there was so much that I was able to be a part of, and I was so grateful for that. My age and gender never defined [my work], so everyone on set was very respectful and listened to me. It was such a beautiful environment to experience.”
Despite significant roles in films like Godzilla: King of the Monsters and series like Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has probably worked most on Enola Holmes 2.
Brown says he had great chemistry with Henry Cavill on set.
Henry Cavill plays Sherlock Holmes in the Enola Holmes films, the older brother of Brown’s title character. The two spent much time together on set, and Brown told Entertainment Weekly that the pair had great chemistry. She says her real-life relationship with her older brother helped prepare her for her role in Enola Holmes 2.
“Despite the huge age difference between us – and he’ll hate me for saying this – Henry and I had such great chemistry on set. Getting to play his sister is pretty easy. I also have an older brother, and I know how easy it is to annoy him, get on his nerves, make him laugh. I know his weaknesses. I know his strengths. I basically just use that with my brother, so that’s basically what I used with Henry.”
It will be fun to see the duo of Brown and Cavill reunite in Enola Holmes 2. So head to Netflix later this year, on 4 November, to see how the Holmes brothers solve another mind-blowing mystery.
