While Motive is now expected to wrap up developing the Dead Space remake, rumours are that they may also be working for “the Mouse Empire” after the revival of Isaac Clarke’s adventure.
Back in August, there was talk that Electronic Arts might be developing a single-player game based on Iron Man. Then, there was a rumour that it would be announced during the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase this week, but that didn’t end up happening. That’s where Jeff Grubb of GiantBomb comes in, who tweeted, “This is the other game I was talking about when we went over the Black Panther stuff. You shouldn’t have to wait much longer to hear about it, but you will have to wait to play it. Although it’s coming before Black Panther.”
As for Black Panther, we should look at Electronic Arts’ Redmond studio, founded by Kevin Stephens. He was previously the head of Monolith Productions (Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War…). However, how is Motive related? Grubb pointed out, “Motive is doing Iron Man after Dead Space [Remake]. A team of former Shadow of Mordor devs will make Black Panther.” It makes sense, as Stephens might have kept some of his former team together.
EA Motive was founded by Jade Raymond, who played an unspeakable role in the launch of Assassin’s Creed at Ubisoft and came over from Ubisoft to help DICE create the single-player campaign for Star Wars: Battlefront II. However, after the studio merged with BioWare Montreal, which collapsed after Mass Effect: Andromeda, she went to Google to head up Stadia Games & Entertainment, but after shutting down in-house development, she moved to PlayStation to work on a live service project at Haven Studios.
Motive’s Iron Man game is not yet official. Hopefully, it won’t be as much of a failure to fly as in Anthem.
