During Tokyo Game Show, we got answers to that question.
If you watch the opening cinematic of the World Tour mode, you can see eighteen characters. And for a good reason: they’re the characters that will be available to play in Street Fighter 6: Blanka, Cammy, Chun-Li, Dee Jay, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Guile, JP, Jamie, Juri, Ken, Kimberly, Lily, Luke, Manon, Marisa, Ryu and Zangief will be in the game, which will run on the RE Engine.
What is the World Tour mode? We wrote a few days ago, “Players will be able to create their avatars with many customization options to reflect their styles and flair. As players progress through the immersive story mode, they’ll hone their avatar’s strength through Street Fights with various NPCs and meet masters like Ryu and Chun-Li, who will teach them special moves from their repertoires. All inhabitants and opponents of the World Tour never back down from a challenge and will seamlessly transition from conversation to battle.”
Remember, you can still sign up for the Street Fighter 6 closed beta test! You can do so on the game’s website. The beta will run from October 7-10 on PlayStation 5, Xbox 5 and PC (Steam). In addition to cross-play, there will be eight playable characters (Ryu, Chun-Li, Luke, Jamie, Guile, Kimberly, Juri, Ken) and seven game modes (Ranked Match, Casual Match, Battle Hub Match, Open Tournament, Extreme Battle, Game Center, Training Mode) to try out.
The game was unveiled in earnest in June, and by then, Capcom had also reworked the rather Adobe-esque, minimally modified logo: According to Capcom’s announcement, “Street Fighter represents the next evolution of the Street Fighter series, which has sold more than 47 million units since its debut 35 years ago. Powered by Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Street Fighter 6 spans three distinct game modes, including Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub. The experience also includes innovative new gameplay features and enhanced visuals for every game aspect.”
Street Fighter 6 will arrive later in 2023 (around February-March?) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC and PlayStation 4.
