The new Xbox Elite Core controllers come at a lower price, but it looks like quality control wasn’t up to par this time around because in the US according to a site called GameRant, it has received a lot of complaints.
Microsoft recently launched the new Xbox Elite Core controller, but it seems some fans are having issues with the device. The Elite Core controller is an alternative version of the Elite Series 2, which is meant to be a middle ground between high-end and standard controllers. It comes in at a lower price of $129.99, but doesn’t have all the benefits of the Series 2 controllers.
The Elite Core controller has the features available in the Elite Series 2, but users will have to pay separately for a separate package of components. The Core version features rubberized grips, shorter hairpins and adjustable tension thumbsticks, while boasting an impressive 40 hours of battery life. However, it does not ship with removable parts such as the replaceable D-pad and thumbsticks. Now, some players are having issues with the Elite Core controllers.
Posts on the Xbox Series X subreddit reveal that some players are experiencing quality control issues with the new Elite Core controllers. A user named TH_Rz shared pictures of his damaged controller, as it looks like someone tried to pry it up with an object. In the same post, Xbox gamers share other issues, such as the right bumper missing inputs and other button presses not registering properly.
A player named DrunkTractorDriver claims that one of their buttons had a double-click issue, and although they could get it replaced, the new controller had the same problem. Other users share the issues they’ve faced with both series of Elite controllers, with fans recommending that they try third-party devices.
Perhaps the most significant evidence comes from user DamiK030, who posted a short video about a problem with the Y button on their Elite Core controller. In one of the comments, DamiK030 mentions that the Elite controllers are awesome when they work, and he really wants one that works as intended. In one post, a player claims to have gone through four Elite controllers, all of which had the same problem with the right stick.
Many fans agree that traditional Xbox controllers don’t have the same quality control issues, so it’s unfortunate that the Elite series still has bugs. Sony recently announced its own version of the pro controller called the DualSense Edge, and it will be interesting to see if it suffers from the same common problems as the Elite controllers.
