However, WRC Generations will not be delayed until 2023 (the French publisher is not legally allowed to do so, as Electronic Arts and Codemasters will already hold the World Rally Championship licence next year).
WRC Generations (which got a new video featuring the Peugeot 206 WRC that the manufacturer used between 1999 and 2003) was previously scheduled to arrive on October 13, but this has been delayed by three weeks, so Kylotonn’s game will only be available from November 3. Nacon has not explained the delay (they have not given a reason, such as that they decided to delay “to ensure the highest possible quality”).
When the game was announced in May, we summarised what WRC Generations is all about: “According to WRC Generations’ Steam page, “2022 will see the WRC transition to the hybrid era. It is a revolution for the rally world, significantly affecting performance, changing strategies and making drivers and teams adapt. In terms of gameplay, new mechanics have been integrated to represent the demands of the hybrid engines. To win, you must carefully manage your battery by adapting your engine mapping throughout the special stages you take part in.
As community satisfaction is always a priority, you can now share customized livery and stickers with other players. The best creations will be rewarded and highlighted. The new Leagues mode lets players challenge opponents with a similar level online for fans of competition. Finish ahead of your competitors to climb the Legends category ladder.
WRC Generations includes more content than ever in a rally game: 750 km of unique special stages in 22 countries; 49 teams from the 2022 season (Rally1 / Rally2 / Junior WRC); 37 legendary cars plus additional bonuses; 165 timed special stages.
A redesigned Rally Sweden environment has been added to make the championship representation even more realistic, with six brand-new special stages in the Umea region. The game has the new hybrid vehicles, new, even more realistic vehicle physics, a LEAGUES mode in which you can challenge other players, and a new Rally Sweden environment with six brand-new special stages. Share livery and stickers with the community. It also has in-game team creation and management.””
WRC Generations is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 3. The Nintendo Switch port will come later, but we expect it to be released in mid-December at the latest due to the licence migration.
