The Creator Of The Sims And SimCity Is Making A Blockchain Game! [VIDEO]

The VoxVerse will support NFT characters worth up to $1300.

Will Wright has unveiled his new game VoxVerse, based on blockchain technology, which he told more about in an interview with Axios. It will be a virtual world in a vast cube where you can buy your land, create attractions and mine for resources. There is no obligation to purchase an NFT. However, it will still support the Vox characters, which are NFTs developed by Gala Games (a video game crypto company). They have already provided over $25 million in funding for the project.

The Vox characters include licensed ones (e.g. Trolls IP from DreamWorks or The Walking Dead from AMC), and Gala Games is currently selling Vox character boxes. Each one contains a unique Trolls Vox NFT when released, priced at 0.87 Ether, which equates to $1,286. Wright says he’s not interested in being involved in selling NFTs, as he’s more interested in the blockchain to make transactions between players more secure.

According to Wright, there will be three types of players in the VoxVerse: a wealthier, smaller group that buys enormous swathes of land with crypto, a more extensive “middle class” that landowners ask to make items (and get a cut of it), and a larger free-to-play player group. Wright says he would rather see a million free-to-play players than 10,000 rich “whales” (the slang term for the financially wealthy, unconditionally supportive), but he wouldn’t object to having a few of them. He sees them as a necessary evil because they can bring money into the game and, with a business model partly based on NFTs, some of it can trickle down to players who “want to create experiences for millions of players”. Wright says, “like it or not, these crypto whales exist”.

Still, it’s surprising that a veteran game developer would go all the way to the blockchain…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
