A new Nintendo Switch exclusive that hasn’t yet been released is getting rave reviews everywhere.
This new Nintendo Switch exclusive game is, of course, Bayonetta 3. It’s only due out on Friday, October 28, but the reviews are already out. It really looks like one of the best-reviewed game releases of the year so far. Bayonetta 3 was first announced back at The Game Awards 2017. And just five years later, it’s finally being released as a Switch-exclusive game.
The original Bayonetta game was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by PlatinumGames and Sega.
The game was not a huge financial success, so Sega did not seem to be making a sequel. However, Nintendo stepped up to help fund Bayonetta 2 and released it on the Wii U. Both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 received widespread critical acclaim, though neither game really set the world on fire in terms of sales. However, following the Switch ports of Bayonetta boosted sales of both games.
It remains to be seen whether Bayonetta 3 will reach the heights its predecessors failed to. In any case, it will be interesting to see what the October 28 release brings. We know that the game is doing very well with critics. Bayonetta 3’s reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, making it one of the highest-rated new game releases of 2022. At the time of writing, Bayonetta 3’s overall critical score, according to OpenCritic, is an impressive 89, with 54 critical reviews.
Reviews of Bayonetta 3 praise the game’s exaggerated action sequences. Some have gone so far as to call it the best Bayonetta game ever. However, some have published slightly less enthusiastic reviews. These reviews have highlighted the game’s story and monotony. However, the positive reviews far outweigh the negative ones, so Bayonetta fans can expect the new game to live up to their expectations.
One thing that doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted the critical scores of Bayonetta 3 is the scandal surrounding the voice actors.
For those who don’t know, Bayonetta 3 has a new voice for the title character. Long-time video game voice actress Jennifer Hale takes on the role. Former Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor wasn’t happy with the offer PlatinumGames reportedly made her reprise her role in the game, so they decided not to bring her back. Platinum has disputed Taylor’s claims. It is yet to be seen whether or not fans will heed his call to boycott Bayonetta 3.
