It’s also been revealed that Striking Distance Studios’ game will use Denuvo on PC (it’s a bit suspicious it gets confirmed only a week before release; Techland did the same with Dying Light 2…).
So PC players can prepare for the game’s frequent “phoning home.” We saw it and the system requirements on Steam. (We wonder if it will be the same “protecting launch period sales” nonsense that Techland used as an excuse, but since Dying Light 2 still has DRM after nine months, it was all lies…)
Minimum system requirements:
- 64-bit processor and operating system required
- Operating system: Windows 10 or 11 x64 (no version number mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, or better
- Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580, or better
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- DirectX: DX11
- Free storage: 75 GB
- And although it’s not mentioned, an internet connection due to Denuvo
Recommended system requirements:
- 64-bit processor and operating system required
- Operating system: Windows 10 or 11 x64 (no version number mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or better
- Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700, or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- DirectX: DX12
- Free storage: 75 GB (SSD recommended!)
- Internet connection due to Denuvo
Also, on Steam, we’ve seen what’s in store for The Callisto Protocol season pass:
“Outer Way Skin Collection: Bear the armor of the Outer Way, an underground insurgency pitted against the UJC, as you fight to survive the horrors of Callisto.
Contagion Bundle: Discover the ultimate survival horror experience with a new mode, Contagion. With reduced ammo and health drops, a customized difficulty, and permadeath – there are no second chances to escape Black Iron Prison or the horrors lurking beneath the surface of Callisto. The Contagion Bundle includes thirteen new Jacob death animations and the Watchtower Skin Collection.
Riot Bundle: Venture into a previously undiscovered area of Black Iron Prison and battle through waves of brutal enemies. Gather credits to upgrade your weapons, or forge new ones, and survive the onslaught as long as you can in Riot, an all-new mode. The Riot Bundle includes twelve new enemy death animations and the Engineer Skin Collection.
Story DLC: Dig deeper into the horrifying secrets of The Callisto Protocol.”
The story DLC is understandable, and it looks like Riot will be a horde mode, but putting the hardest difficulty level in DLC is a bit odd, as is the fate of the death animations. Glen Schofield, the game’s director, responded to it on Twitter, “To be clear: We’re not holding anything back from the main game for the season pass. We haven’t even started work on this content yet. It’s all new stuff that we’ll be working on in the new year. Fans have asked for EVEN MORE deaths, so we’re making it a priority next year.”
Whatever happens, the release of The Callisto Protocol is not far away, coming on December 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
