Free games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are announced for December 2022.
This month’s games in the basic Essential tier have been available for download for some time (Mass Effect Legendary Edition trilogy, Biomutant and Divine Knockout). We now know what free games will be available for mid- and high-tier subscribers later this month.
PS Plus Extra, the middle tier that gives you access to a library of hundreds of downloadable PS4 and PS5 games (every PS4 game works on PS5, sometimes with improvements), gets the vast majority of additions again this month.

Leading the way in Sony’s announcement is pancracy game WWE 2K22, though it’s important to note that this game is coming to the service on January 3rd, and it’s only the PS4 version.
We get three more Far Cry games – Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn and Far Cry Primal – three Yakuza games – Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and the spin-off Judgment – two Lord of the Rings – game – Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War – and a prisoner on the pear tree. These are all PS4 games, with Like a Dragon and Judgment also getting a PS5 version.
Other games coming in the Extra edition are (PS4 only unless otherwise noted): Adventure Time, Pirates of the Enchiridion, Ben 10: Power Trip (also PS5), Evil Genius 2 (also Ps5), Gigantosaurus The Game, Mortal Shell (also PS5), Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate Edition, The Escapists 2, The Pedestrian (also PS5) and Worms WMD.
The top tier, PS Plus Premium, expands access to the library to include streamed PS3 games, PS1, PS2 and PSP emulations, as well as some remasters and remakes. In addition, the option to stream many games from the entire Plus library will also be added.

The expansions of the service can again be said to be few compared to Extra. There’s a PS1 game called Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, two PSP games Pinball Heroes and Ridge Racer 2 (which leaked over half a year ago), and a streamable PS3 game called Heavenly Sword (which the service launched about half a year ago was available for streaming until it was renamed).
Along with the aforementioned WWE 2K22, these games will arrive on PS Plus on Tuesday, December 20th.
Until then, the official PlayStation Store is offering Plus membership at great discounts for expired or new subscriptions. And you can save even more money with ShopTo’s store credit.
