The PlayStation Store listing for Blizzard’s new ARPG, Diablo IV, reveals that a PS Plus membership is required to play the game. Even if you’re playing solo…
Diablo IV, the highly anticipated new instalment in Blizzard’s action-RPG saga, is due for release on 6 June. It will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S series and PC. However, it was recently revealed that PS Plus membership is required on Sony consoles, and Xbox Live Gold membership is required on Microsoft systems. This requirement applies even if you want to enjoy the open-world adventure solo, which some of the community didn’t like.
The requirement for players to pre-pay for Sony and Microsoft services was discovered by a ResetEra forum user.
He spotted that membership was required to play Blizzard’s new game. As you can read on the game’s PlayStation Store page, you need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to access Diablo IV content.
“I’m really pissed off. I’m not an online gamer, I was happy to get the PS5 to play this game, but it’s a disappointment to me, no single player, no monthly fee to play online as an MMO, yeah I’m disappointed.”
“What about you, does this affect your decision to buy it on console if you are not an online gamer?”
Others also expressed their disappointment. Some have even given up on buying the game, accusing Blizzard of profiteering.
