MOVIE NEWS – There has never been a biographical film that received as much publicity as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer opus.

The 100 million dollar production – so much is not usually spent on biopics in the first place – is apparently the love child of the Universal studio, Jack Carter, critic of ScreenRant, points out. The film introduces you to the twisted life of the “father of the atomic bomb”, so of course the focus is not only on how history’s first weapon of mass destruction was assembled. Oppenheimer shows the political and military lobbies that promoted the implementation of the Manhattan Plan that created the atomic bomb, the viewer can learn about the scientist’s moral struggles and women’s issues, and the era itself, when amid the raging Cold War they dragged a genius in the name of anti-communist hysteria. (Oppenheimer was classified as a national security risk, he could not access classified information, which is a serious disadvantage for a nuclear scientist. He was recently officially acquitted of all charges.)

According to Jack Carter, it is striking that the studio is launching Oppenheimer in the summer season, when films such as Tom Cruise’s latest Mission: Impossible opus Mission: Impossible Showdown Part One) and The Marvels, the big superhero movie of the year. The move suggests that they believe Oppenheimer will take its place among the big blockbusters. This is guaranteed by the reputation of the director, Christopher Nolan (Batman trilogy, Dunkirk, Origins), who has created all critical and box office successes, except for the latest Tenet, which was largely a failure , because it was sent to cinemas at the height of covid.

Oppenheimer’s other big trump card is the incredible star parade, we can see almost all the big names in the extra roles. The title character is played by one of today’s best character actors, Cillian Murphy, and his communist wife is played by Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. brings the figure of the pro-nuclear minister, and Matt Damon is the general in charge of the Manhattan Plan.
